Tags, Topics and Tasks

Documentation lives and breathes through projects. Usually, the folders and the related materials they contain are not the projects themselves. Maintaining a shopping list does not equate with shopping.

Projects come and go, they grow and disappear with their becoming. At their very best tags and topics can only trace tasks, and nothing more. The tag "chess" is of no use if it leads to 1435 resources. When tagging evolves along the projects, it is constantly refined and redefined. When it is not, it dissolves itself into an almost random index.

Once documentation is classified according to a robust hierarchy, its creator dies, or the other way around. In any case, it then becomes archives for others to maintain. As to respect the creator's last wishes, the archivists keep it as is.
