A pile of cards shouts to be processed. An old notebook sits there waiting to be rewritten. The list of errands gets so long there is not time to accomplish half of it next month. What is there to do ?
A first reflex is to twist and shuffle notes. Open, write, file, save, close ; find, drag, zip. Boring, error prone and inefficient : moving around does not replace writing.
A second one is to enter notes into buffers, without bothering about order. All working notes can be entered first into four files :
* one scrapbook
* one notebook
* one workbook
* one pocketbook
The scrapbook are where snippets are pasted, or scratch notes are entered on-the-fly when one does not know where else they fit. This file gets emptied by the end of the day. Or the end of the week. Or not.
The notebook contains notes about projects. Ideas are put into one paragraph. Lists are flattened. Titles are paragraph titles.
The workbook lists the memoranda of work to be done. One and only list per workplace. The repetition of reading improves the chance things get done.
The pocketbook preserves the ideas that stand apart : mantras, prayers, poems, quotes, etc. Reminiscing the essence of beauty. Celebrating life's senselessness.
These four files provides a fast and furious filter of ideas. From there, ideas are then developed into projects, or moved back to oblivion. There is no book for forgotten ideas. The good ones then to recur. Forget and forget the bad ones.
